The SULO 360 Litre Kompakt mobile garbage bin (MGB) was recently entered into the Manufacturers Monthly Endeavour Awards under the ‘Environmental Solutions of the year’ category and was selected as one of five finalists.
The Manufacturers' Monthly Endeavour Awards is Australia's premier national awards for manufacturing excellence. Manufacturers' Monthly established the Endeavour Awards program back in 2003 and now in its eighth year, the Endeavour Awards is the only national awards program specifically for Australia's manufacturing industry. The Endeavour Awards celebrate and recognise the achievements of industry leaders in their drive to achieve 'best practice' and excellence in manufacturing.
The 360 Litre Kompakt was entered into the Environmental Solution category – for successful implementation of solutions designed to reduce environmental impact. A major problem facing Australian waste management is that 33%* by weight of all household based recyclables currently ends up in landfill and the SULO 360 Litre Kompakt provides an innovative solution to this environmental problem. The alternative options of more bins or more frequent collections are not only too costly, but also environmentally unsustainable. The only real solution is larger capacity – a 360L Australian designed and manufactured MGB.
John Kernahan, SULO’s Director of Sales and Marketing believes the 360 Litre Kompakt MGB is an easy solution to the recovery of recyclables “we identified a major problem within the waste industry and undertook great deal of research and worked with our customers to develop an effective solution that could be easily implemented”.
The 360L Kompakt MGB was specifically designed to increase domestic recycling capacity in Australia and improve the local environment. Its larger capacity allows for waste minimisation by reducing the leakage of recyclables into landfill. As a consequence, it also reduces landfill costs to local councils (and ultimately ratepayers) and contributes significantly to local council compliance with national waste reduction targets set by the Federal Government.
With more capacity, households and councils have the option of less frequent bin collections leading to a real reduction in bin lifts by collection trucks on the road, fuel consumption (Greenhouse gas emissions), and traffic congestion – creating a triple bottom line benefits.
