Carbon calculator compares carbon emissions and water usage resulting from manufacture of mobile garbage bins (excluding lids, wheels and axles) (MGBs) using recycled HDPE resin against carbon emissions and water usage resulting from manufacture of MGBs using virgin (i.e. newly made) HDPE resin. Carbon emission and water usage information has been calculated using life cycle analysis data generated by the Packaging Impact Quick Evaluation Tool (PIQET) and taking into account standard inputs into the resin manufacturing process, raw material freight to site of manufacture, and the MGB manufacturing process. It does not include delivery to customer or end-user from site of manufacture. Emissions and water usage information assumes that recycled resin is sourced in Australia, virgin resin is sourced from both the Middle East and Asia, MGBs are manufactured in Somersby NSW, and MGBs are recycled in Australia at end-of-life. Calculations by the Carbon Calculator are general in nature and indicative only. Actual results may vary, and individual circumstances may impact these results.

[1] This figure represents the number of trees planted and grown to maturity that would be needed to absorb the relevant amount of carbon dioxide saved.
