Sulo has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting regional families and critically ill children by donating an additional 200 x 240L recycling bins to Little Wings, enabling the expansion of the organisation’s life‑changing “Fuel Our Planes” fundraising initiative.
Little Wings is a not‑for‑profit organisation providing free, professional flight and ground transport for seriously ill children across rural NSW, QLD and the ACT. Their mission is simple but vital: easing the emotional, financial and physical burden families face when travelling long distances for life‑saving medical treatment.
In 2024, Sulo proudly donated 200 brand‑new 240L recycling bins, helping Little Wings launch the “Fuel Our Planes” container‑return fundraiser. The program invited schools, community groups, businesses and clubs to collect used bottles and cans with every 20 containers funding one litre of aviation fuel.
The impact has been extraordinary.
Since the first donation, Little Wings has distributed all 200 bins across the state, enabling communities to collectively recycle 1.5 million bottles and cans, the equivalent of 75,000 litres of aviation fuel, directly helping transport sick children and medical teams across regional Australia.
The program has continued to grow, now involving:
- 30 schools
- 44 businesses and clubs
- 11 NSW depots
- And thousands of families rallying behind the cause
To maintain momentum, and to support Little Wings’ growing State vs State Recycling Challenge, Sulo will donate another 200 bins in 2026. This will allow even more communities to participate and help Little Wings reach its ambitious goal of 600,000 containers recycled in 2026.
Little Wings’ Marketing Manager, Andrew Bailey, says the partnership is transforming access to essential healthcare:
“Every bottle returned, every litre of fuel funded, directly helps us fly children to the medical care they urgently need. With Sulo’s support, we’ve been able to expand this program faster and further than we ever expected.”
Sulo’s ongoing contribution reflects the organisation’s deep commitment to community impact. Matthew Newman, General Manager SULO, says the partnership aligns strongly with Sulo’s values:
“We’re incredibly proud to support Little Wings. Knowing that our bins help fuel real missions for families in crisis is deeply meaningful to our team. This partnership shows how practical solutions like recycling can create real, measurable impact in people’s lives, and we’re honoured to play a part in that journey.”
Sulo’s contributions provide more than equipment, they deliver tangible social impact, measurable community engagement and powerful visibility for the role recycling can play in funding essential services.
Together, Sulo and Little Wings are proving that simple, everyday actions can help save lives.
